Although magdalenae is a true sspp with a complete different behaviour, the former from 'plebejus' is not a procida, but definitely an uncommon aberration. Very good catch. Xavier Agreed 100%

Interesting, could you post any pictures for us ? Hi Olivier, Give me a day or two and I'll put up some pictures. Thanks again for your help. Simon Hi dertodesking, It's Jonathan. In my opinion the Maltese population is similar to that of Italy. I have specimens from Corfu and yes the specimens have a slightly darker orange and are larger from what we have in Malta. In Malta, the brightness of the orange on the males forewings depend on the season for example if it is wet or warm. I can upload a photo of the Maltese specimens I have in my collection to show you the different hues in the males forewings if you want to.
Best Regards Jonathan www.satyrinae.yolasite.com/

ahhh wollastoni. Normally I find that when I travel alone I attract much less attention than when travelling with a group. I know that it is safer to be with someone else but people tend to ignore you more when you are alone. Collecting groups attract too much attention everywhere.

I think I know who is that Greek freak entomologist as he sells P. apollo on ebay and he sent me some nice words last year as well and had to report him to ebay who took appropriate action.

Yes the laws are stupid but there isn't much which can be done and that is why Turkey will never join the EU. They should have a process to issue collecting permits (without bribing anyone). Spain is a country which leads by example. You get the permits, obey the conditions and you do not have problems with the authorities and this is how the civilised world should be....just like Spain.

I've been there in July 2011. The most common species were G. cleopatra, H. fagi and H. neapolitana. The main drawback is that Capri is very very very expensive in Summer.
