Hi everyone - my name is Dave and have had a lifelong interest in Lepidoptera and a general interest in other insect orders. My current interest is moth trapping which usually involves taking trips to local woods here in Bucks, England with a portable actinic lamp in a Skinner trap. Any female moths caught I take home to try to obtain eggs, and if they lay I breed them through to adults to obtain photographic records of the life history, something I find fascinating! So although my interest is mainly in moths I do love butterflies, and you can't beat going out on a lovely spring day here in the UK, such as today and finding plenty of the hibernators on the wing. Today's total was Peacock (10), Comma (7), Small Tortoishell (39), Brimstone (26), and my first Speckled wood of the year - very enjoyable!

Hi, I am Dave and my current interest is mainly moths, which I trap in local woodland in the Chilterns here in Bucks. I like to retain females and obtain eggs to rear through to adults, and get a photographic record of their life history, a subject I find fascinating! I can't think of a better way to send a warm spring evening than sitting beside my portable trap and seeing what flies in - always exciting!

Hi everybody. I'm Enrico Garuti from Modena, northern Italy (maybe famous here for the entomological fair "Entomodena"),I'm 16 and I've been keen on insects since I was 4 years old. I mainly collect Ornithoptera ... but probably I'm going to start with the fabulous genus Cithaerias and Aenetus which attract me a lot... I also rear moths of the family Saturniidae... My collection includes: 1 pair O. goliath procus 1 pair O. goliath sorongensis 1 pair O. tithonus misresiana 1 pair O. paradisea arfakensis 1 pair O. meridionalis tarunggarensis 1 pair O. priamus urvillianus 1 pair O. aesacus 1 pair O. chimaera charybdis 1 pair O. croesus lydius 2 females O. priamus poseidon 1 male O. priamus priamus 1 female O. victoriae rubianus 1 male O. rothschildi and 1 unidentified Cithaerias species... I'll post some photos soon.... Enrico

I'd be glad to bring anyone who's interested to my expeditions! If ever one of you wanted to explore Québec/NE N.America, give me a sign. My calendar for summer 2015 is filled with thrilling entomological quests.

Hello everyone.
New here, my name is Axel, I'm 20 years old. I live in Ile de France in the west of Paris.
I came here thanks to wollastoni who I know from insecterra forum and he made me want to join you.
My favorite area? Hunting, collection and butterfly farming. From my modest greenhouse I try to reproduce butterflies that are hard to see in Paris. Currently 10 species in my greenhouse.
I am also looking for exchanging butterflies with other european countries. Russia and Canada / USA. Please contact me in MP if you are interested.
I offer French insects in return. Warning I offer mainly common French insects.
I don't speak perfect English. So I apologize for any errors. But if you happen to speak French, it would be a plus for me.
My favorite butterfly? The Grand Sylvain (Limenitis populi) a ghost I am looking for a long time now just to see ... and try to raise it.
I am delighted to meet you all.
PS : If you are interested in exchanging butterflies, write me in MP what you want (species in Latin name) knowing that my hunts are two places of Rambouillet and Fontainebleau + the Vendée coast.

Hello, everybody.
I'm Victor Titov (a.k.a. stapleton - the InsectNet) from Russia and I've just discovered the present thread. I live in Zhukovsky, one horse town 40 km SE of Moscow, and I've been trying to collect and study insects (grasshoppers) since the very first day I was let to crawl alone in the grass of our country yard, Mom tells me...
Now I'm 55, focusing my efforts on the butterflies of genus Parnassius and some other groups of Papilionidae. (From my past experience though, I do know a thing or two about Carabus, Colias, and, say, Sphingidae).
Years ago I took part in a number of expeditions to Transalai and the Pamirs. These were unforgettable. Being far not rich and non-commercial by nature, the only way I have to continue with my collecting is exchange (so, Parnassius exchange offers are welcome).

Welcome to the forum Victor ! Always a pleasure to read new presentations from new members. Gives us all a little more insight into how you got started and what your special interests are. More NEW members should do this. Only a mere handful have. Love the photo's of your Parnassius. Your spreading technique is top notch. Best Regards !

Thanks a lot for your kind words, trehopr1. It's really not often that one can come across a friendly attitude nowadays. I truly appreciate that, thank you.
