Near Meni Village in the Arfak Range, Indonesian Papua : a must for those who prefer observe Ornithoptera than small and brown european satyrinae. By the way, they have nice satyrinae in the Arfak (not only Birdwings) ! Dear Wollastoni, a nice place also for Delias : at least, more than 20 species in the area.

An octopus tree in the Ta Prohm Temple in Angkor (Cambodia) : better to take photos than to handle a butterfly net (National Park ...). That said, the forest is large and desert far from the temples ... Others pictures will follow later ! Attachment Deleted

Nomad ! your question : "jmg. Of all the places in the World you have been to for butterflies, which has been your favourite." None of these places is "my favorite" ! All are my favorites. All these places offer tremendous landscapes, terrific sightseing and, no need to say, are good biotopes for butterflies. My main criticism is against those countries which, for religious reasons, we can not drink one or two fresh beers after hours spent climbing or running into the tropical heat ... and I hate the chemical sugary drinks ! Following, some new pictures ! The Hautes-Courennes in the Luberon (Provence, France) : so many species ! Learn more : www.lepido-france.fr/2011/12/les-hautes-courennes/ Attachment Deleted

Los Cedros : cloud forest in Ecuador. A great place, so remote (hard way on slopes in the mud to get in !). Terrific ! Terrific for butterflies and one of the best place I know in the Word for moths (Saturniidae, A rctiidae, and so on) !!!

JMG sorry to hear that, why?. I was enjoying your biotope pictures. Have you encountered Maculinea/Phengaris arion, the high alpine dark form obscura in the Alps. I need a good locality where it is common, so I can photograph it. I know it is found in the Haute Alps of Province, Northern Italy and Swizerland.

It should work now, our storage was full again. I have increased my monthly fee of the forum. Jean-Marc, as your pictures are already on the web on lepido-france, check the "smart method" to attach picture here. Your picture will look bigger and it will be free for the forum : collector-secret.proboards.com/thread/11/attach-picture
