I need to photograph more Nymphalidae to share on the site. Here's a photo that I have ready-made, illustrating variations of Hypolimnas bolina. It's considered to comprise 6 subspecies, although I believe it's a matter of opinion, in some cases, where one begins and another leaves off. The species enjoys a vast natural range, from mainland Asia to Australia and many Pacific islands. The selection here comprises much of that range, from various mainland Asian areas, a large part of Indonesia, and as far out as Samoa. hypolimnas bolina drawer 01 1281 by D B, on Flickr

The species as also been recorded as far west as Kenya, though I don't think they're permanently established there.

From Fiji, Vanuatu & Samoa with a couple from Australia. Still many more to mount! Apologies for the photo quality - in a rush, as always!

Ignore the two stragglers at the bottom left hand corner not long off the boards and about to go where they belong.
