I get excited about taking a series of common and dull coloured Graphium macareus from a different locality off the setting board.
Hmmm ... no wonder some people think lepidopterists must be mad.

BTW Peter, is nominate messalina as big of the other messalina ssp you already have ?
I have never seen one nominate messalina with my own eyes. I was surprised by the size of gerrittsi and orientalis ssp.

Adam. I've got a load of Pieris cheiranthi (cabbage whites, albeit from Tenerife) that I'm well pleased with, I resisted the temptation to set the 13 adults that emerged from the 14 eggs I bought (for £14.95) and so far I have 170 specimens on the boards with still a few more pupae to emerge. A female sold on eBay last week for a little over £20. so far I've spotted about 20 pupae in the greenhouse amongst the vegetation so I could still get more eggs later on. Rich

To go with the splendid Delias messalina messalina from Bougainville island of Peter, here is a pair of Delias messalina orientalis from Guadalcanal that I just received, recently caught by Nicolas Grimaldi ! A well differentiated ssp.
