Absolutely superb, fantastic colours. How close to reality is the photo?

Anyone know of localities for this species from around D.R.C.? Once source says extreme north-east (where I live), while another only mentions Bas-Uele (which is more north central). In any case, it seems like this is a pretty rare species.

Interesting that it's been reported from DRC; I was only aware of South Sudan and NE Uganda.

you have to hunt in "dry [area], sparsely wooded hills sides often where bamboo is present" (Larsen). (of course NE Congo fit with this kind of habitat) It is also known from CAR. Irt seems not so rare in his habitat.

Hmmm... well wish me luck folks! I've got some sparsely wooded hills nearby, and just need to find some stands of bamboo.

I've got some sparsely wooded hills nearby, and just need to find some stands of bamboo. be carfeul to not confuse hills partially deforested (ex forested hills) and hills that are partially forested naturally (because of dry climate). Because of deforestation, many areas remain with a few trees coming from an original true forested situation. not so obvious.

Yes, that would be a very important distinction. The hills to the west of Bunia would fall into the "deforested" category, whereas I doubt the hills to the east (which form the Albertine Rift escarpment) would have ever been forested. Actually, my concern with the second set of hills would be that I'm not sure there were ever enough trees to count as "partially forested". I really need to explore that area in more depth.

take a look at the Garamba NP, it is this kind of region you need to visit and find adequate hills.
