This is a specimen of Hexarthrius bowringi, my favorite species of Hexarthirus. They have been very rare until Japanese breeders got their hands on them, and since then prices have dramatically decreased. I am not sure if it is still in breedings, as it seems that prices are slowly going up again. The above specimen is a 72mm male, and supposedly wild-caught. I do not have my collection with me, but I believe the specimen is at least around 25 years old, I have it since 2002, obtained through an exchange. Apologies for the watermark, for some time in the past I had so many people steal my images and put to their web pages. Cheers Ben

One of the nicest bowringi ive seen.
Captive females dont produce many eggs apparently. Therefore, bowringi remain scarce eventho they are bred.
