Dear all,
Recently I saw the above moth on Japanese Internet auction.
See www.ksl-auction.com/auction.cgi?acc=disp&no=1441188783&t=1356614019 (In Japanese)
I myself am not at all a moth lover however I know this huge tiger moth. This "holy grail" took my interest. This species was collected from northern Thailand.
Is there anybody who has the information on this species?
cheers, mokky

Many years ago I remember Ban Khun Lao, Wiang Pa Pao, collectors bringing this species for sale in small numbers.
Adam.
PS. Wiang Pa Pao is in Chiang Rai Province.

Is Dysphania militaris a mime of the unpalatable Zygaenid ?

Sebastia argus is an Arctiid not a Zygaenid, but is probably distasteful.
I wish it was found in my garden like Dysphania militaris. I very much doubt that it is a mimic, it may be distasteful itself, as mimics are normally much rarer than any models.
Adam.

Thank you Adam for your interesting comment. There are still good chances for finding this splendid tiger moth in Thailand. If you find it, please share the image with us.
