A few weeks ago I found a moth outside during daytime trying to hide from the day light, I caught it put it in a jar and covered it so i could release it at night. when it came time to do so, the moth refused to leave the jar, i tried leaving the jar outside but it wouldn't just leave so i decided to keep it and feed it until it died and spread it after. ive raised many moths and their eggs, ive feed them with sugar water soaked cotton or just a bottle caps full of it, never had trouble feeding them, but this one wouldn't eat. so i found her dead today in her jar today and spread her. and i need help identifying her because i cant find anything she was found in portugal, europe. and im only assuming its a she, because its a big fat moth

It's indeed a "she", and this is Agrius (Herse) convolvuli.

You are welcome. BTW, this is a pretty common species, so it makes me wonder why you could find no reference... And one more thing: when setting, be sure the HW upper (inner) edge is covered by the lower one of the FW, NOT vice versa... (in the photo, it looks like the opposite...).
