Dear all,
I am happy to announce that a great book on the early stages of Asian butterflies is finally published.
The Sequel to "The Life Histories of Asian Butterflies Vols. I-II" Suguru Igarashi & Motohiro Harada, 2015 A4, 352pp. (210 col. plates)
more details are from the follwoing link: kawamo.co.jp/roppon-ashi/sub650e.htm
One of the authors, Mr. Harada Motohiro (1941-) is a keen field worker who has been studying the early stages of Asian butterflies more than 60 years. He had been inspired by another author, the late Dr. Igarashi Suguru (1924-2008), in his younger age. Then both of them spent much time in various jungle, montane forest or alpine zone to unveil the early stages of butterflies. Igarashi passed away in 2008 then Harada succeeded Igarashi's will and finally published this volume.
194 species including rare and interesting species are illustrated with detailed images. Text is both written in Japanese and English. Therfore this book is open for overseas colleagues.
I respect Harada as "Butterfly Guru" for his vast knowledge and skills in finding eggs, larvae or pupae. Now he is already in mid-70s. We need to learn from him as much as possible.
Definitely this volume must be one of the legends in the study in the earlystages of butterflies.
Cheers, mokky

Seems to be a splendid book !!! The live pictures of Bhutanitis ludlowii are splendid !
They are from the last Japanese expedition who rediscovered this species in Bhutan.

Yes, Mr. Harada was the leader of Japanese team which collaborated with Bhutanese team in Ludlow Bhutan Glory Expedition in 2011. He discovered the female which was laying eggs on the underside of the hostplant, Aristolochia griffithii. This finding was really fantastic. He is now 74 years old but still visiting many places to look for unknown early stages of Asian butterflies. He is truly a "legend".
