As a result of my studies at the Taunton Heritage centre, I have had a new Paper/article published on the online journal ' dispar' which is run by Peter Eeles of U.K Butterflies. A History of the British Large Copper Lycaena dispar dispar and Scarce Copper Lycaena virgaureae in Somerset. Here is a link, I hope you enjoy my article. www.dispar.org/reference.php?id=102

Congratulations on your new published article Peter, I've been reading it now and its a cracking paper, well researched and it made a very interesting read. It's such a shame that the Quekett Lepidoptera collection did not survive and appears to have been almost 'neglected', I'm sure some lovely specimens would have been originally included!

Interesting article Peter. I remember being fascinated by these stories when I first read about them many years ago in PBM Allen's excellent books.

Thanks Bob. P.B.M. Allan was a great writer, I have been reading his Moths and Memories ( 1948) again.

Agreed. I can't recommend PBM Allen's Moth books highly enough. There are many good textbooks or field guides around but these books are the only entomological books I know that are purely anecdotal and a damned good read.

I agree Bob, I am awaiting Leaves from a Moth Hunter 's Notebook ( 1980) by Allan. I believe it has his dispar stories. I have read his accounts before in a journal, but look forward to reading more.
