Dear members, Collector's Secret is a rather complete website for insect collectors (forum, auctions, links, ads...). To my mind, one important thing is missing : a book review section. I tried to build it 2 years ago but I renounced due to 2 factors : - to do it alone it is a huge task (buying the books, reading them, commenting them, creating the pages on CS...) - I read books mainly about Delias, SE Asia and France. Not enough for a full book review section. I had an idea today but I need at least the help of 5 of you. Volunteers could post their review on the forum and, with their written authorization, I could create a page on each books on Collector's Secret copy/pasting the review (of course with full credit to the reviewer(s)) Doing so : - I would have only the page to create. - the book section would cover a larger spectrum of topics The vision is to create a place where "all" entomological books are commented. (impossible I know) And I could organize them per families (early entomologists, Papilionidae, Books about Papua, etc...) Visitors would be able to note the books and leave comments on it (like on Amazon for example) It would boost the visibility of new books. Authors, editors and readers would be happy. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

This is obviously very interesting Olivier ! A review of a book has to be done by an expert on the subject and has to show some objectivity in its analyse. This is something rather difficult to write, and I do not feel as I can help. About books themselves, I obviously can present a lot of them showing front cover, title page, sample pages (text and illustrations), table of content, public price if recent ... Of course trying to be in compliance with copyrights A+, Michel

Thanks Michel.
Agree that a book about Ornithoptera should be reviewed by a Papilionidae expert or serious Ornitho collector. But a book like "the Malay Archipelago" or "Mes chasses aux papillons" can be reviewed by all amateur entomologists.
Of course I won't create pages on my website with some reviews that are useless for readers, it would be counter-productive, and a big loss of time for me.

Great idea Olivier
If someone need reviews on the books or simply looking for some info in regards particular insects it will be much more easy to find. It is going to be a bit extra work for you then .
