I'm going on a collecting trip in Canada and Alaska in a few weeks for a Parnassius eversmanni genomic project. I'm wondering if a P. clodius actually flies in Alaska. In Weiss' book it's stated that there are populations at Mt. St Elias and Skagway (P. c. incredibilis), but there is virtual y no other records of this subspecies. I need to decide if I should do a detour to see if I can find P. clodius up there.

It is a subspecies described based on specimen with false data. There was even described P. nomion americanus from California! Back then nobody really questioned authenticity of labels which lead into many at least questionable descriptions.

Good to know. P. nomion americanus is crazy! How can they mess up labeling like that.
