Garry Sankowsky (Queensland, Australia) has very kindly given me permission to post this photo here to illustrate how the male of Graphium sarpedon uses its hindwing scent folds during courtship. It is fantastic to see the scent hairs fully extended, showering the female below with pheromones. Adam. PS. For collectors - when you spread specimens of any butterfly group with such scent folds you should always open the folds out, because there can be important characters to distinguish the species hidden inside. For instance this can be important in separating species of Parides and Byasa as well as Graphium.

I should also mention that Page & Treadaway (2013) treated the Australian taxon of the Graphium sarpedon complex as a separate species, Graphium choredon.
