During COVID exile I had to create lessons for my classes using video. One decent camera, a microphone, and some crash courses in video software later I became interested in video production. Last Spring I headed up to Papilio indra minori habitat and filmed my experiences.
I'm hoping to make some more videos this coming spring and Summer. Please let me know what you think.
Hope you enjoy!

Nice video! It's good for those of us who can't get to these places to see the habitats and the bugs. A nice follow-up would be to show the larvae on the foodplant in situ.

Bravo! Perhaps ironically my daughter watched the video with me and noted she’s not the only one to get dragged along. Once we are there she enjoys it, but until then she complains

Chuck,
Thanks for the message! Glad to see I'm not the only one carting my daughter along! She's good with the camera and usually enjoys being out with me. She finds large moths cute and never wants me to collect them!

I would love to find some caterpillars, but they are so difficult to locate! Perhaps collecting a pregnant female to lay egg. Last year while up there just after I made this video I saw two mating pairs fluttering about. I didn't have the heart to disturb them although find a nice female is hard to do.

The irony is yesterday I was reading a paper on Papilio Indra in Utah. Irony in that I’d read a paper, but young people are driven by video such as yours. You are so hip! Or whatever the word is today.

Or whatever the word is today. I have always loved Indra, but I only have two of the twelve or so subspecies. I have never found the time or locality to get to California much to look. Several years ago I was in Apple Valley California but had no clue where to look. Once I also checked St. George UT. up Lyle Creek but I was to early in the season I guess. Someday I'd like to find a couple more subspecies.

Do you have more videos? Do you see rattlesnakes out there? I'll be making more videos this spring. I enjoy working with the camera and software and will post butterfly and butterfly-related videos when I have them finished! I have a couple unedited videos I may throw together for a post in the near future. There are rattlesnakes in the area but I have never seen any and honestly never think of them as I hike around.

Oh man we are going to have to wait forever. This will be like Avatar, where Cameron says he’s working on a sequel which will be released in two decades.
