Greetings all, I'm currently working on starting my personal collection, here in my country, Dominican Republic. Sometimes it can be quite pricy buying equipment from certain stores, due to the taxes coming with the items, shipping to my country, etc. So here I will like you to give me some recommendations about economically entomological suppliers in North America. Since now, I have bought all my equipment, nets, collecting lights, unit trays, pins, etc, from Bioquip, but I want to know more about other stores, specially for buying cabinets, unit trays, pins, and all the essentials. I will be very grateful reading your recommendations!

Shipping maybe the same or slightly higher but at the end still better deal. www.insectnet.eu/

Hi Ernesto, welcome to the collector secret, I think everybody will be very excited to see some specimens from the Dominican Republic once you get started! For entomological equipment I think you need to separate according to different products. For example Bioquip has great foldable nets, especially the national park special, but the net bag itself is far too heavy and not soft enough, little lycaenids get hurt when I use the rough Bioquip net bag. I bought all my net bags and also nets in China, price was really low, and super high quality. They have two suppliers that use fishing rods, change the top, and put on great net bags, which are super soft, and with a lot of air flow still. I cant give you a website, but I have the suppliers wechat contact. Insect drawers on the other hand are really bad quality in China and also from Bioquip. For good quality insect drawers I always recommend Ento Meier from Munich Germany, a bit pricey but definitely the best quality: www.ento-meier.de/69/shopAnother less expensive option is Paradox from Cracow: www.insectnet.eu/For collecting jars/killing jars I never buy them, just make them myself out of jars that I find around at home.

Another high quality products you can find here kawamo.co.jp/roppon-ashi/e025.htmlJapanese store, more pricy but bag nets and nets are at high quality. They have much better collapsible net rings than Bioquipe! More easy to collapse quickly if in need. I actually found that bioquip has only one thing at high quality: shipping cost! ( 5 to 10 times more expensive than for example from Poland!! ) Never will get back to them.

Thank you, I have heard a lot of the high quality of japanese products, someday i'll like to try them. For me it's kinda dissapointing having to deal with those high shipping/handing costs of Bioquip, cnsidering I have to pay shipping to my country, items above 200 usd having taxes
