Looking thru my Coleoptera holdings the other day I realized, that I had once picked up these two specimens of Hoplia coerulea in a beetle collection being parted out. What a magnificent and very "unusually" colored species found in France. I can't think of any other coleopteran offhand which shares this unique color... It is smaller than North America's invasive Japanese beetle but, what a powerhouse of eye "popping" color and delight ! Absolutely wonderful species.
