Hi,
I'll be next summer in the Karakorum for an expedition (climbing) . Is it legal to collect there (around basecamp) without a permit ?

Generally a collective permit and an export permit are required. The application for the permits is complicated and takes a long time. Over the past 2 years, the Pakistani government has been paying more attention to nature conservation. The Khunjerab National Park is particularly protected. Last year 4 collectors and sellers of spiders, scorpions and insects were arrested on different places.
Anyway, I've been living in Pakistan for almost 3 years now and never had any problems. Good luck with your trip Andreas

Try to contact Jerome Pages, he will be the one who can help you. Maybe he knows how to obtain permits there.
