In October a work colleague & good friend took his yearly sabbatical and headed to his home village of Mutchapa in Ituri's Mahagi Territory. This past year hasn't been kind to his region of the country, with unknown militants attacking the population and burning villages. Fortunately, things had calmed down enough for him to go visit his family, and, as he often accompanies me on day trips to the forest, offered to bring a net along with him.
Below are the first of the specimens he collected to come off the spreading boards.

Colias electo pseudohecate These are the first specimens of the species in my collection. I have a few more on the spreading boards, and I believe another couple still papered. They seem so out of place compared to the regular fare from DRC, but bring fond memories of collecting as a boy in Canada.

I believe the Colotis diversity is found more towards the lake. Mahagi Port is about 1km lower in altitude, if I'm not mistaken. That said, I do have a specimen of Colotis antevippe from just west of this particular locality.
