Hi Paul K.... I always see some preserved butterfly and moths larvae when I visit the Entomodena fair....I talked to the owner of these and he told me that he was a tassidermist.....well, he says that preserving larvae is quite difficult.... First of all, he empties the body using a syringe and then , even with a syringe he fills the body with silicone....Finally he re-paints the larva using acrylic colors in order to make the larva as real as possible..... he uses the same technique with the spiders's abdomens but he doesn't repaint them.
