One of the most beautiful Cymothoe for me is Cymothoe oemilius, a forest species ! Some will remember my post here : collector-secret.proboards.com/thread/92/butterflies-paintings-wellknown-artists where this species is often represented It does not vary very much throughout its range (Nigeria, Caroon, Gabon, CAR, Congo, DRC) as you can see from the pictures of my old collection : Unfortunately, I had no Gynandro of this species But a very nice aberration named form frederica You can see it in the first box. It came from DRC, and I have seen a few specimens in collections such as ABRI, BMNH, and private ones in Belgium ... One of the Cymothoe I never managed to get is the oemilius supspecies coming from Bioko (formerly Fernando Poo) called C. oemilius fernandina. It must be very rare as I only remember a very few specimens seen at Oxford, BMNH and MNHN ! I am not sure, but I think my friend Steve Collins from ABRI has not got it, but this may have change ... Guy Canu look extensively for it on only saw it ounce from a distance on the south of the Island which is almost inaccessible. Sorry I can not post a photograph as all my documentation is now at ABRI. May be someone here can post one ? A+, Michel

Also, these are wonderful! Do you know if their range stretches to the eastern part of DRC?

These are restricted to what is called the "cuvette". I don't know what would be the translation ? As I understand it the "cuvette" is the area surrounded to the west, north, and east, by the Congo River, so perhaps a good translation would be: "the deepest darkest depths of the forest"? Thanks!
