Almost certainly not. I wonder if those could be larvae of Limacodid moths? If so I am surprised they didn't sting him when he touched them.

I live in Argentina (South America) My dad didn't touch them, he took them with a screwdriver, those bugs had really hard bodies.They had really small legs.

This may be more wild guess than anything, but could these be larvae of a species of tortoise beetle in the Cassidinae?
Are there any leaf beetle specialists on here that could verify - or more likely, correct me?
