Some years ago while looking over a private collection I spied a gorgeous pair of Australian bladder cicada's. I would say they are probably the most unusual looking cicada species which I have ever encountered. So, I am posting them here for your viewing pleasure.

Now that is bizarre! Cicadas are one of those "variation on a theme" groups - other than color patterns and size, they all look pretty much the same. But this one is really different - and aptly named!

Hi Chuck, the wingspan of the primary one in the photo was 4 inches and the one underneath it was just a little less. He said both of his came to a light sheet one night but, he never saw any others. I guess right time and place !
