Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedOur holidays started in the last days of November, and lasted till 26-th of December. We stood in Gunung Leuser N.P. during 10 days. Walking treks were restricted by small area near village Ketambe. We lived in Ketambe Forest Guest House (2 km from Ketambe village) and were able to get to virgin tropical forest by short walk. Usually, if you get to N.P.forest the local rangers may ask you to get a permission (about 10 $ per a day). We haven't been in Ketambe office of Park, so paid to ranger when he caught us looking for insects near Alas bank. Gurah section forest is a big area with untouched forest, and be sure that you will find a lot of fallen logs. The path aren't marked so it better to get first trail with a guide, or keeping the shot distance trail near river Alas bank. We ask Mr. PakMuss ( holder of Guest House) were are good places for looking insects, he said that it is on other bank of Alas where Research Station was located many years ago, but there is not any activity now and it is closed. We was going to get there to warning around, but Alas water was very high and very turbulent so it was impossible to get on other bank by the boat. So we warned around our guest house changing the direction of our treks. Besides the numerous and different butterflies other insects were rather sporadically seen. Night walks also hadn't given a lot of insects because of rains. Tatiana
