Ctenophora flaveolata Fabricius, 1794, family Tipulidae is a large and spectacular Cranefly that mimics a wasp. In the UK this is a rare species of ancient beech woodlands of southern England. This female (the males have large feathered antennae) was photographed in the Chiltern Hills, south Oxfordshire in early May, 2018.
