Pictured are two species of Rabbit Bot Flies collected by me during the past 10 years. On the left is Cuterebra abdominalis and on the right Cuterebra buccata. There are 34 recognized North American species so far. Of those, 7 belong to the rabbit-infesting group. Finding these very uncommon and rarely seen adults is a "can't miss with that net" moment ! The larger (abdominalis) is solidly 1 inch long and mimics in color a large bumblebee. Attachment Deleted
