Here is another recent addition to my collection. I'm especially excited about finally acquiring this one as I have seen other forum members gradually acquire it themselves over these last few years. My dealer was able to get 4 of these recently and called me out to make a trip to look the lot over. I felt this was the cleanest and best looking one of the bunch. This one comes from Ecuador: Esmeraldes. Collected in Nov. 2014. I was told it is the "green form" of this butterfly and that the more commonly encountered "blue form" from Peru is the one which most collectors have acquired these past years. The green/black color combination on this butterfly is simply breathtaking in sunlight. The photo really does not do this species justice. I probably paid too much for it but, premier examples have always exacted a "swift kick in the pants" for pride of ownership. Since, I don't indulge myself any too often with pricier stuff; I figure every now and again it makes me feel good to get something I know is scarce (or few in number) in private hands.
