I also cannot see the illustrations. Do you know the author, year and title of the old book? That would probably help a lot.
Adam.

I am currently working at an art project. I really need to find the name of these two bugs. It actually took me 2 seconds to get this answer. Opened the links you provided, clicked the link to see the image in context, and read the the name beneath the figures. Calosoma sycophanta & Calleida decora I'll leave it up to you to figure out if those are synonyms or still current.

Good morning! cabintom: thank you for reading the page for me, not sure why but on my computer the lines describing the pictures are all weird symbols, so I couldn't read them. ciervo @mr Cotton: thanks to you for your quick answer, I apologize but I am new to forums so it took e a little to realize that there were issues with the pictures. You all make a very nice and kind community, I again thank you and wish you good!

thank you for reading the page for me, not sure why but on my computer the lines describing the pictures are all weird symbols, so I couldn't read them. If that's the case, you might be missing the font they are using, though if you're referring to the stuff written on the flickr page then you'd need to follow the link to the source pages (the link says "view book online"). If you take the time to follow those links, I'm certain you'll find a treasure trove of similar illustrations.
