ebayNow with 16 bids and over $300 for a synonym of spinosa. There is absolutely no difference between Burmese and Yunnan specimens, as the butterfly crosses through the passes at the border. Adam.

Interesting, I didn't know that. A pair of spinosa would cost around 300/400 USD too.

If only people would do a little research, have a little more patience and maybe look on here at other collectors comments they would save themselves a small fortune.

What annoys me is that the seller states "FIRST TIME OFFERED !!! WORLD RARITY !!!" which is blatantly untrue. I have seen Burmese specimens offered on eBay before, under their correct name.
I agree that specimens of this quality are not usually available, especially females.
Usual problem though - CITES permits.

$650 for a very nice pair that you could own but never see, highly unlikely they come with permits so could be confiscated if package is opened at customs, then the rather high fines and legal costs that could ensue and if the buyer is buying these without permits I wonder what else lies in the collection awaiting descovery when the collection is searched. Never ceases to amaze me how many CITES species are on eBay these days, as far as I know they don't issue permits for any Bhutanitis or Teinopalpus do they?
Fair enough if it's going to another non CITES country but there ain't many.

Maybe many Russian collectors buy from Russian dealers on eBay, if there isn't a local Russian equivalent of eBay, which I rather doubt - there must be a Russian site or competitor.

You may be right, as it is now up to $800. Apparently there are 6 'different' bidders, who knows whether those are real or not.

I think the bidders are real. I have seen here in Germany some females of lidderdalii - no matter what subspecies - no one was sold for less than 700 EUR !
