I received a package from England today from a friend , he sent me some nice variations of the chalk hill blue (Polyommatus coridon) also variations of the common blue (Polyommatus icarus) and Adonis blue (Polyommatus bellargus).
Nice old specimens but when i read the Data labels on them i was very suprised at just how old some of them are. two or three read 1920 and the oldest reads 1915, that is over 100 years old, Gee you rarely come across this in Australia.

I also have many old British specimens, the oldest, I think is cyaniris semiargus from 1860, but many of mine pre date 1900, what is remarkable about these old specimens is how well they age, most are still in top condition. Here are 2 of my Aporia crataegi from 1886 and 1907, remarkable condition for their age. If you look at the post I put on in the show your insects section "old butterflies from famous collectors" you will see many such specimens
