Hello, I am curator of a small museum and have a beetle specimen collected circa 1930s that has no location or taxon. Insects are not my specialty. I have tentatively assigned it to Lucanus cervus (European). Can anyone confirm this determination? Thanks very much for your help! Attachment Deleted

I myself am no professional, but I would also go with Lucanus cervus. Has it by any chance been where the sun was getting to it. The colors on the back don't look right to me.

It may very well have been exposed to light at various times in the past 80 years. It was probably used as a teaching specimen, so it likely has not been continuously in a collection cabinet.
