Hello folks, Last summer I collected some Amata from Sicily but now I have some difficulties to identify whether the species is called marjana or kruegeri. My online search concluded that people use the words marjana/kruegeri interchangeably. Any ideas of whether I should use marjana or kruegeri please?
Thanks Jonathan

It seems that marjana was described by Stauder in 1913, whereas kruegeri is attributable to Ragusa, 1904. If they are the same species then kruegeri has priority unless for some reason it is unavailable, usually due to homonymy.
I cannot answer the question definitively since I have no idea whether they are both the same species or not.
Adam.
