Hi everyone, I was wondering if you could help me identify the exact butterfly attached? I'm having a hard time figuring it out. Thanks in advance!!! Attachments:butterfly.pdf (45.61 KB)

It's either Papilio bianor or P. dehaanii, do you know where it comes from?
Adam.

Thanks.
A friend of mine wasn't sure if maybe it was one of these??
Chinese Peacock Luzon Peacock Swallowtail Blue Peacock Southern Chinese Peacock
I unfortunately am not an expert, so forgive me if I sound "dumb", lol. I have no idea where the butterfly is from!

Supposedly I am an expert but I don't know much about 'common names'. I guess that "Luzon Peacock Swallowtail" must be Papilio chikae, and this is definitely not that species. I think that it is almost certainly Papilio bianor, which is probably what you call "Chinese Peacock". Papilio bianor comes from mainland Asia (China through SE Asia to NW Himalayas) whereas P. dehaanii is found in Japan, Korea, NE China and FE Russia. The two species overlap in Shandong. Adam.

LOL. That one gets me too when I'm talking to the "butterflies through binoculars" types. "Yeah, uh, but what is it's real name?" Duh, I dunno, I only know the cryptic latin name, sorry.
