Hello All,
I'm John from the southern Appalachian mountains in Tennessee. I'm a 67-year-old retired research chemist who's collected leps for about 50 years now. My special interests are Lycaenids (worldwide except African), Papilionids (worldwide except African), Colias (worldwide), skippers (US only), moths of the southeastern US coastal islands, and whatever happens to be flying at the moment! I'm more a scientific than an aesthetic collector - specimen condition doesn't mean a lot to me, but really good data is crucial - My wife says I collect exotic labels with scraps of butterflies attached.
Over the years I've collected throughout the US, and in Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Costa Rica, Canada, France, and on Cyprus.

John,
Welcome to the forum, good to see you here. I have 2 Eurytides marcellus you caught in 1981 (female from Tennessee, 26 April and male from Virginia 14 June - full data on labels) in my collection here in Chiang Mai.
Adam.

Hey, I know you! I sent you some Lice-anids from Solomon Islands.
Adam, tell you had to go look at the specimens and didn't pull that out of your memory.
Chuck

Hello Guys,
Adam probably has some other material of mine - I think I recall trading a bunch of SE US stuff for a mixed lot of Thai Lycaenids. And Chuck, I still have the Solomons bugs too!
Adam, did you ever know one Prasit Chaiphuak? I got Thai material from him back in the day also, but he sort of disappeared from the scene.
Cheers, John

Cheers, John I only have these 2 spread specimens, but it is possible that I still have papered material from you, as I have a lot of papered US material. For your and Chuck's info my memory isn't that good, but I have an Excel file with all the spread specimen data labels on it, and I just searched the file for "Hyatt" and found them. I don't know the name Prasit Chaiphuak, but Thais use their nicknames most of the time in general conversation rather than their real names, so it is possible I might have met him before but don't know his real name. Adam.

Hi! Im Horacio, from Montevideo Uruguay. Im 30 years old, engineer, and entomology enthusiast. I like mostly coleoptera genre, and started collecting Uruguayan only beetles. Came here to learn and share about this awesome activity.
Cheers, Horacio

Greetings! I am a technology consultant based in the Boulder, Colorado USA area. I have rekindled my interest in Lepidoptera over the past few years as I've gotten into my 40s and my kids are old enough to show some interest. I have been branching out to collect and photograph Lepidoptera in Colorado and also through a few annual trips to Wisconsin. While I may not have as much time to collect as I like, I spend much of my time reading up on Lepidoptera endemic to the USA. I've raised and bred several species of Saturniidae and Sphingidae over the past couple years, with some success; my interests also extend to Arctiinae, Catocalinae and most Colorado butterflies. My photography is getting somewhat better and I have a soft spot for photographing the Lycaenidae of Colorado. My prized catch this summer in Wisconsin was a Sthenopis argenteomaculatus which I will be honest, had me baffled until someone helped me out with an identification on Clark's forum -- I bought a lot more books after that. Regards, Eric

I live 30 miles north of tampa florida, in a small town on the gulf of mexico. my home is rural and I try to keep as much of the property natural. I am a semi retired podiatric surgeon. I no longer collect except to rear. botany and live botanical collecting are also an important issue. in the past I have collected both entomologic and botanical specimens in all of central America and most of south America. visitors are always welcome.

Hi, I'm Egle, educator in Kaunas botanical garden. Now I'm 24 and just started to get interested in collecting insects, especially butterflies. I don't have my favorite genus, but I believe it will form in no time. I live in Lithuania, Kaunas, and I got interested in collecting insects, because we started an exposition of live tropical butterflies. I hope to learn a lot from you!
