I'm getting too old to go out into the Australian desert by myself. I'm seeking a travelling companion for a field trip from Perth, WA, looking for tiger beetles in the next couple of weeks. Any takers?

Butterfly net works well for Cicindela, leon. Trap are not so efficient as they have wings and can escape them (which is not the case for Carabus).
+ trapping is not selective, so all what you can do with a net is better.

In Africa traps work for ground ones (I have a friend who is quite old and trap most of time) ... add that many are wingless !
