This strange Delias popped-up one day in the TOP 100 Insect Auctions and I had no idea what it could be. So I put a big bid to purchase it and received it one month ago.
It is an aberration of the not uncommon Delias agostina annamitica.
For non Delias specialist, see below a normal annamitica : Source Delias of the World
What I like in this aberration is the progressive disparition of the white spots of the HW. It looks nearly like a new species. Most of Delias aberrations are colour aberrations or duplication of some patterns in wrong places. I have rarely seen abs like this annamitica.
Hope you will like this unique specimen.

A prize find indeed Olivier ! It pays to have a sharp eye even when the net is not in hand. I like the washed out look of the HW white spots. That specimen is so melanic that the normally heavy black veins of the FW look as though they bled (pooled) into 3 dark spots along the radial veins. Very cool. Do you think the seller knew that he had something unique? Did you put forth a stiff bid to scare off other buyers or because the asking price was already high because the seller did know what he had. I have oftentimes found that treasures like this are often overlooked by those selling them as they simply miss the details that others pick up on.

A very nice find and specimen. I believe your bid for a rarity on ebay must be a good one or otherwise there will be those that wait until the last seconds of the auction and beat your by a dollar, all good fun.

Thanks for your comments on this beauty ! trehopr1, nomad < on Ebay, when I see a butterfly I want, I just put my max bid and wait for the results without looking at it anymore. Other techniques can fail or drive you crazy. Most of the time, I win the specimen at a lower price than my max bid.
