This is a scan of an old 35mm slide, hence the poorish resolution - and it needs to be rotated 90 degrees, too (thereby twice demonstrating my ineptitude in all things digital). Still, I've always like the photo. Heliconius antiochus salvinii, photographed mating, just out of the chrysalis, in Venezuela (Edo. Bolivar, 17 km S. of El Dorado) about 30 years ago. I took a very nice, fresh series of the bug there. It's not overly common in collections now, and was quite a rarity at the time.
