Dear all,
Here I introduce the video clips of two Himalayan endemic swallowtails (In fact, B. lidderdalii was also known from Thailand, now extinct).
Both I filmed when I was still young and reckless. I would like to try again with HD digital video camera.
If I succeed in filming these species again, I will show you.
Enjoy. mokky,

Nice video, thanks for sharing mokky.
It appears that B. lidderdalii flies high in the trees. I did not know that.

Nice video, thanks for sharing mokky. It appears that B. lidderdalii flies high in the trees. I did not know that. Thank you for your comment, wollastoni. Yes, B. lidderdalii usually flies high on the forest canopy. It is very interesting that this butterfly becomes active in rainy day. (Note that the temparature is relatively high) In a sunny day, they kept on the bush and few can be seen. Strange swallowtail. Similar species, Bhutanitis ludlowi is observed active also in a sunny day.
Cheers, mokky

Super videos of two very beautiful and rare Papilionidae. Thank you nomad for your comment. Yes, it is easy to see the pinned specimens but there is still few people who are blessed with seeing these jewels in the wild. I will try to film another jewels, Kaiser-I-Hind ( Teinopalpus imperialis) and Golden Kaiser-I-Hind ( Teinopalpus aureus).
