Dear all, Please forgive my ignorance, I know absolutely nothing about insects. Nonetheless, I came across "something" and I can't identify what it is. I was wondering if anyone would kindly tell me (if of course they can identify it) what exactly the name of this insect is in the picture. I am assuming it is an insect, but I could be completely wrong, Just to paint a better picture... This little creature (which I thought at first glance was a leaf) was hopping / jumping around. It was found by the trees on a caravan site near Devon, England. This picture is taken with the bug on a white piece of paper, with a torch shining beneath. I did this in the hope of getting the best picture possible. I thank you all wholeheartedly in advance. P.S - Before I came here, I did numerous Google searches and Image searchers, but had no luck. Thanks. Attachments:

Tough one. Looks like an eraterid inside a seedpod or similar. Like a Mexican jumping bean (look it up). There are no appendages or segments visible. Hard to imagine it jumping and the like. Insects are segmented and have 3 pairs of legs btw.

Hi,
Thanks Ciervo,
Ah interesting. It didn't jump too high, more like 'flicked'. This movement was sporadic though and may have been associated with the heat of the torch... I did think it was encased in something, the creature inside is green... I couldn't capture this with the camera though.

Maybe small leaf boring larvae? Brown enclosure looks like a leaf structure.
