Except the common boring Coenonympha pamphilus, Coenonympha are splendid Satyridae with stunning patterns.
In the Alps live the cute Coenonympha gardetta. Here are few pictures of a female I met near Vernant lake above Les Carroz in Haute Savoie, the 12th of July, 1700 m. altitude.

I am very fond of the Coenonympha pamphilus, it is the first butterfly I ever caught and set.
