I have not spread any skippers for years but when I did, I keep them moist and set them fresh. If you are capturing your own insects, set them when you get home.

Nomad, your comment reminded me of something I failed to mention earlier. While it is easiest (by far) to set the specimens as soon after capture as possible, those specimens I have pictured where set approx. 10 months after being papered... so, I guess, there's no need to panic if you can't set something immediately.
