I've always though it would be really neat to attend an insect fair where there are dealers/sellers with lots of specimens for sale and you can see some rare species. This seems to be commonplace for many other collecting hobbies (eg. numismatics, gem and mineral shows, etc.).
However, there seem to be only a handful of such fairs across the globe in a year. Here in the US, the only one I am really aware of is the Cal-Poly Insect Fair in California (2000 miles from me). Am I overlooking one closer to the east coast? I do see there is a Montreal Insect Fair but I imagine it would be a bit difficult to bring specimens across the border... maybe that's not true. Anyways, just curious if the hobby is really that niche that a fair would get many visitors. It seems there are several in Europe.
Thanks! Tim
