I do not have a photograph. Below is the description given to me by our son, who lives in Minocqua, WI.
They're paper nest builders in trees and on buildings. Large straight bodied like a bee, not segmented or tailed. Appearance is not fuzzy like a bee, more smooth like a hornet. Body partially striped like a honey bee, not fully striped like a yellow jacket. The stripes are bluish green. Body size is very large, 3/4 - 1".
I've scanned a few websites with identification photos, and none match the description; especially the part about "stripes are bluish green."
Anyone?
