Hey guys! I caught this butterfly while out searching today (Stuart, Florida). Lucky for me, it was flitting around on the ground rather than 40 feet up in the air . Anyway, I've caught a few of these guys before and was wondering if the green is very common. I feel like I remember seeing a little green in some of them before, but only localized near the base of the wing by the body and definitely not all the way to the edges of the wings. Thanks for any help! -Jack (edit) I'll have the mounted pictures up in a few days or so once it's dried but the inside is tinted green as well...

I’d guess it’s water stained.

I’d guess it’s water stained. I was thinking that it looks like water stain but I have never seen it to such extend.

The coloring does seem to have gone down a little bit, but the underside is noticeably darker than my other specimens (albeit not by much). The upperside seems to be just a tad greener than the others that I have. It's a bummer that it has so much damage on it . I wonder what it might have looked like in A1 (whether it looked green out of the chrysalis or not)... Anyway, thanks for the ideas as to the color difference. Maybe the green tint will wear off in a little bit -Jack

Your specimen could be greased. That would make it look green. If so, soak it in acetone for a couple of hours. It should return to its natural color.
