Don't bid on this : - illegal, CITES I species - must be a scammer, I doubt he has those rarities for sale (no photo of the female for example) - the seller has 0 feedback on ebay

Adding to the list: - A "19.3 sm" Titanus giganteus is also for sale
I don't know what sm is, but I believe 19.3 mm or cm is significantly out a Titanus's size range.

I collected my Titanus in Franch Guiana and it is about 13cm . I know they can get much bigger but 19 cm I am not sure and if it is that would XL size not SM .

I have checked and no one collected larger then 17cm specimen of Titanus. I think this seller indeed has no specimens of those .

Someone is obviously un-informed about the status of this remarkable species. Maybe some numb nuts got a hold of grampa's butterfly collection and has decided to sell it off on Ebay ! On another note the largest "recorded" specimen of Titanus known is 16.7 cms. Anything bigger than that is either someone's well kept secret OR their specimen has in some way been "doctored".

If this is a old pre cities one genuine specimen, then the seller would have to have a special license to sell it.

I might add, that the seller is clearly advertising a pair,so where is the other specimen. Something does not ring true about this sale.

I would be very wary, not only is there no picture of the other specimen there is also no description underneath and the seller has no feedback.

Well, it's final! I asked him where he got it, and he said it came from Haiti. Of course, it is only found in Jamaica!

The seller is located in Russia . Even if he has that specimen and someone will buy out of Russia . The buyer never is going to get it accept the call from the customs of his origin country that he is trying to import illegally protected insect and the specimen is seized. That happened when german seller sent to me O.paradisea without CITES permit. The custom officer did not follow any charges against me but the pair was lost . The German guy sent to me another pair with permit at no charge. He was thinking Canada same like EU no need permits.

Whitin the Eu countries they dont look through the package as far as I know. If I would send from the netherlands to germany or to spain or itallie it shouldnt be a problem. Or am I wrong on this matter.
