Hello, Satyrids is a very good choice for collecting. I think focusing on Palearkt only is not a problem if you want to travel for them as well. There are many rare and aenigmatic taxa in China, Afghanistan. In Europe you will find many rare and endemic species or ssp. You should get Bozano Satyrinae series to get the nearly a good picture about this group. You can be sure that super rare taxa will not appear on collector secret My main focus is now genus Hipparchia, especially insular endemic taxa mainly from Canaries, Madeira, Azores and Mediterranean sea. I like to rear these species and Satyrids in general. Fresh reared specimens of several species have a great metalic shine on wings. So my tips for early steps: get some books (Bozano series + Tshikolovets Butterflies Europe) and travel during summer as much as you can Thanks a lot for very useful informations, really appreciate it. Have a great Easter. *I think this year I would stick with buying on fairs, simply because I cant have a leave from work earlier than the end of July, which I think would be late term for butterflies. So next year Ill definitelly make a trip, Central Asia is attracting me

Satyrinae are indeed a great family to collect ! Especially paleartic ones !
If you need to start on some genera, I would focus on Chazara, Pseudochazara, Karanasa, Erebia, Hipparchia which are among the most interesting genera.
