What is the ideal humidity inside the collection room in order to have pests die and keep a perfect spreading? In my collection room it is always constantly 39-41% humidity, but I thought about buying a dehumidifier to get levels down. @adam I remember in your collection room it was extremely dry! Desert dry! What is your humidity level?

Depending on time of year it can be as low as 15%, but it is normally about 30%.

Is 40% enough then? Or would you say a dehumidifier is a good investment to keep the specimens safer and drier?

In the summertime my bug room stays at 40% or a bit below, with the help of a dehumidifier. In winter with the heat on and the dehumidifier off, it stays below 30%. I've never seen a trace of mold under these conditions. Cheers, jh

I don’t have a bug room and my apartment is in the winter around 40% and in the summer usually 50-60% but sometimes can get up to 75% for few hours. I don’t have any mold and wings are stable although I use vapona pieces inside drawers to prevent infestation.
I’d say 50-60% is safe but the lower the better.
