Thoughts on the ID? Probably T. gerda, but the underside is much more heavily marked than my one other Toxochitona specimen (which is why I'm uncertain).

I agree with you it is most likely Toxochitona gerda.

I have just had a quick look and see that I have two similar specimens of Toxochitona that originate from the Kivu area of DRC. The first I have labelled as T gerda has the data as “Lume. June 2011”, this is similar to your specimen above but the underside does not have the darkened black band across the hindwing undersides. The second specimen does have a slightly darkened underside hindwing band but this I have labelled as T sankuru. This has a data label that says “Kasuo” BUT I have added a second warning data label that says “Dates and locations possibly incorrect” which means that I have been suspicious about the accuracy of the data for one reason or another, but I am pretty sure it comes from DRC, just not sure of an accurate location. I also have a short series of T sankuru from Cameroon.

kasuo and Djugu may represent an endemic orophile .... all two altitude forest biotopes. The genus is in need of revision (I think that Michel is busy with it ? as he is revising the all subfamily). In the past I try to study it but because of too much much projects, I let it and concentrated on Aphnaeini. There are some species to describe in the genus. Despite the habitus are quite similar, the genitalia are very different in different species.
