In fact, it is not a single Agrias claudina who came, but two! The first stayed long enough and posed well for both photographers. Unfortunately, the second one made only a quick passage and we could not gather the two butterflies on a single photo! The next day we came back to the same place but the clouds darkened the sky and Agrias did not show. Nevertheless, not easy to take a picture of the Agrias open wings! Still not easy to photograph Morpho cisseis phanodemus in flight (fairly common but localized). Here is one that the birds have severely abused!

A note in passing: the Panama hat, in Colombia as elsewhere, in metropolitan France as in Guyane, attracts very well many species: Charaxes jasius, Agrias claudina, Hyparnatia kefersteini, Manataria hercyna hyrnethia, Baeotus deucalion, etc. Probably because of the sweat and salt contained in the straw!

Sorry ! I did a mistake about the Morpho : it's not M. cisseis phanodemus but Morpho hecuba werneri Hopp, 1921, male.
