May be Anaea sp. ?

It's a species of Memphis (often still placed within Anaea); I don't think it's possible to determine the species since so many are similar on the underside.

Oh, thanks to both! Would not be possible to ID it just by knowing which species are used for butterfly houses?

It would narrow it down if you know the country of origin (many specimens in butterfly houses come from Costa Rica, for example), but probably not with this specimen since the undersides are so similar (yet variable) in many related species.

What a shame! The origin of the butterflies here are probably from breeders outside original distribution, but almost all of the butterflies here are American (Caligo, Morpho, Heliconius, Siproeta, Phoebis, Myscelia, Hypna, Consul...) but is the typical assemblage of butterfly houses.

Now I'm pretty sure that is a Fountainea and very look alike Fountainea nobilis. Toughts?

It's unlikely to be F. nobilis. The latter came from only one source in El Salvador, bred for collectors and sold at high prices. That breeder's brother in the US, who was the marketer for his specimens, died recently and I don't know whether further specimens will be available.

Now I'm pretty sure that is a Fountainea and very look alike Fountainea nobilis. Toughts? Agreed on the Fountainea part - but I would go with Fountainea eurypyle - a common species throughout much of Central America and likely to be in an export mix of pupae to butterfly houses. j
